2015 Edition Limitée Pinot Noir
Our 2015 Edition Limitée Pinot Noir is layered and complex. There are sweet aromas of candied plum, mixed with lilac, baked red fruits, cranberry, raspberry, and spice. The palate is structured but supple, displaying layers of flavor and giving a sense of richness without weight The tannins are already integrating beautifully, and the finish is noticeably long for such a young wine. The balance and elegant touch reinforce the notion that, with decanting, the wine can be enjoyed now, but that it should evolve meaningfully for at least 10 years.
The warm, long growing season of 2015 brought us a second straight harvest of exceptional quality. Looking back, a warmer than average winter led to an early budbreak and nearly six months of charmed growing conditions. Just before harvest, the vineyards were able to enjoy some needed rain, but the skies were largely clear. Starting on September 9, as temperatures cooled slightly, we picked for nearly three weeks, bringing in exceptionally pristine, healthy fruit. Our 2015 Edition Limitée is an exciting focal point for the sensational 2015 vintage.
Understanding a vineyard takes time, patience and experience. Qualities such as nuance, potential and character – these are not things easily or immediately learned about an estate, and Véronique Drouhin tends to be extra careful about these decisions. In contrast to our barrel cuvées, this is an ‘estate selection’, a chance to highlight individual vineyard blocks that have something to say in a given vintage. Our 2014 Edition Limitée Pinot Noir demonstrates winemaker Véronique Drouhin’s full command of the vineyard,
drawing from two blocks that she felt were destined for each other.
